Bangrak - Authentic Thai cuisine. We offer Thai cuisine, in NY, Upper East Side. We are thai restaurant serving you with love and kindness
Quaint restaurant with excellent food. We've dined in and ordered take-out, both were excellent meals. As a plant-based, vegan eater, I appreciate the willingness to help modify dishes to accommodate my dietary restrictions. My omnivore partner has also been very satisfied with his meals.
It’s a cute small Thai restaurant. The food is nice, and the servers are friendly. We got green curry with beef, pad see ew with beef, and a basil fried rice with shrimp. The green curry was quite nice. Compared to most of the Thai restaurants, their green curry was not as sweet, which was to my liking. It was more savory and was able to bring out the flavors of the vegetables and the beef. The seasoning of the pad see ew was also on spot, however, I didn’t like the texture of the broad rice noodles. It was a bit too thick and too chewy. I preferred it to be thinner and with softer texture. The flavor and the combination of the vegetables were good. Last but not least, basil fried rice was spicy and flavorful. The lemon wedge brought out another level of flavors. The shrimps were also fresh and tasty. Overall, I would say it’s a slightly above average Thai restaurant. I’d like to come back and try other things.
The aesthetic here is very cutesy. I love the pink and addition of the tea pots. I ordered the papaya salad as I do at any Thai restaurants and theirs didn’t disappoint—it had the perfect balance is citrus and nuttiness. The wings had the perfect amount of sweetness. For dessert we had the mango 🥭 sticky rice 🍚 this was definitely some of the best I had.
My only complaint was that the restaurant was a little tight and the light switch for the bathroom didn’t work (I looked inside and outside). Other than that, it’s a very clean place with a friendly staff.
Honestly, this place used to be delicious when it was Thai New York. I’m giving three stars because there are things here that do taste good like the basil fried rice and the Tom yum soup but that’s about it. And the basil fried rice is a hit or miss. If you genuinely like flavor and not apart of the “salt and pepper is seasoning” crew then I suggest you don’t go here for good authentic Thai. Honestly the place next door is way better. And lastly, I don’t eat meat. I recently ordered Thai fried rice lunch special and they gave me chicken dumplings (which look unappetizing) when I asked for vegetable. Who does that?
Bangrak offers a tasty 3-course weekend lunch special for $22 (plus tax). The Tom Yum chicken, chicken and shrimp dumplings (2 big pieces) and the Pad Rama Tofu had authentic nuanced flavors. The portions were more than adequate to fill you up. Seating is limited in this small space painted bubblegum pink and decorated with faux flowers.
The stewed beef always hits the spot! Perfectly tender, spicy, and flavorful.
Nice people, tiny but cozy place with great food.
Awesome place! Great food! Awesome service!

So cute and delicious! The atmosphere is so cute, all pink!!!
Loved the food and service from Mimi!
Best Thai food on the UES. Great lunch special too.
This is our go to place. I love their crispy pork with broccoli and mango sticky rice. The staff are nice and very accommodating.
This place has the best Thai food around. The service is amazing, the food is delicious. My favorite is the pad Thai and dumplings with a Thai iced tea. And the best part is that the restaurant is pink!
food was great!
Amazing food and amazing service the place does a wonderful job and we had a lovely time here
ממש טעים!! מומלץ!
The food is delicious with rich Thai flavor. The service is amazing with quick response and the food is served fast. I would recommend this place for a perfect date night with the wonderful flowers all around the room with decorations all around.
Wow!!! Pad see ew was DELICIOUS
WOOHOO
Wonderful little cozy spot on the UES. Just ate there for the first time. It was delicious.
5 ⭐️.

I kept having to repeat what I wanted on the phone and she told me to hold on. I wanted flat noodles SPICY with shrimp and American broccoli. after several minutes she said ok I know what you wanted and kept saying pad sew something. When I get there the dish only had the noodles and shrimp with othe stuff I didn't order. I reluctantly paid not wanting to waste food but that food should have been wasted. the noodles were oily with no flavor. Never again if you wanted to rob me at least stick a weapon out next time.
Incredible!!! I wish I found out about this restaurant sooner. The people are so friendly and welcoming. Saying the food was amazing is an understatement. I would recommend trying the chicken wings, the chicken and shrimp dumplings, and the thai fried rice.

The food was ok, lacked depth of flavour which was compensated with a high amount of salt and msg
The portion size was ok, not particularly big
prices were fine
Would not really recommend if you like Thai Food
Ordered chicken khao soi on Uber eats and asked for extra egg noodles. The curry was flavorful and chicken was cooked amazingly, but they LOADED the bowl with bean sprouts and barely gave me any noodles at all :(
The additions to the curry (onions, pickled mustard greens, etc) were all great. But the fact that a noodle dish didn’t come with any noodles was really disappointing.

If you have SK as your waiter just leave.. she was super rude it just was not it. It was a language barrier she was catching attitude because she kept messing up our order. I brought my friend here from out of town and I would never visit again I was so embarrassed of how nasty they were acting this was not a pleasant experience at all.. I won’t be back .
My go to place, always great!
Horrible service, tried to walk in to place a take away order today. The girl at the front ignored me even though the restaurant was nearly empty. I told her several times what I wanted to order (papaya salad) and it seemed like she eventually got it but after waiting 20 additional minutes I asked her again and she said it would be an additional 10-15 min. There was no communication and it felt like I was pulling teeth
The restaurant is clean, bright and inviting. After entering the establishment you’re immediately greeted. The food/desert are delicious.
very tasty food, very friendly waiters
Fantastic lunch and wonderful service!
Really fantastic Thai food on the UES. We ordered Pad See Ew, Pad Kee Mao, and Tom Yum and all three were amazing.
Tasty and generous portions. I chose the duck, and it was deliciously soft.
I visited Bangrak a few months ago as a solo diner. The manager greeted me warmly and provided excellent and attentive service while I was having my meal. I ordered Pad Thai, which was delicious and flavorful, and I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. As I left the restaurant, I felt lucky to have such a great Thai restaurant in front of my building. However, the evening took a turn for the worse after I returned home. I won't go into details, but I sometimes regret not filing a food safety complaint the next day.
Good value, great service. The volcano chicken I ordered was very good!
Amazing Thai food!! The food is delicious and the service so attentive.
My nr 1 thai spot in nyc!! Sooooo good food, and big portions for a lovely price. Love the inside of the restaurant as well!
Great Thai food! I ordered massaman curry, vegetable spring rolls and the vegetable dumplings and they were all so tasty. Some of the best Thai food I ever had the order was delivered very fast too! I highly recommend 10/10
This is my go to thai takeout in the upper east side. The service is quick and the food is always good!
Ambiance (3/5): The restaurant is super cute but TIGHT. It can only accommodate under 20 guests. Be sure to set a reservation in advance. We were a party of 5 and squeezed into a corner with hardly enough room to raise your arms.
Service (4/5): Due to the small number of available parties, we were helped quickly and often. The establishment is also BYOB!
Food: The price point compared to the portion is worth giving this place a try.
Massaman Curry w Roti (Starter) (5/5): The roti pieces were thin and crunchy. I could have easily just eaten the roti for a meal because they were that good. The curry had spice, depth, and thickness. It had a generous portion of sliced chicken breast.
Red Curry (3/5): Compared to the Massaman, the red curry lacked creaminess and was not as spicy or flavorful. There was definitely enough to last for another meal.
Pad Kee Mao (3/5): While the overall taste was good, it didn’t stand out very much to me.
We made a reservation but they did not reserve any tables for us.
Really great Pad Thai
This is some of the best thai takeout i’ve ever had (ordered khao soi with beef and crab rangoons). I heated up the leftovers and they were basically identical to the day before. They were so nice and the food was quick. Please go support this excellent restaurant!
Really good food, service, ambiance.
We really appreciated the fact that there is not too much noises versus usual restaurant !
The shrimp soup was very yummy, the portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. Also very quiet
Bangrak, like Bangkok is the village of river, is a village of love. You won't miss the love from the pink facade and decor. Come for all your favorite Thai cuisine.
Tip: There's lunch special running every day before 3:30pm.
Pad Kee Mao Beef was phenomenal and the papaya salad was so great too. Atmosphere was cozy as well.
10/10 recommend
Literally order from here at least once a week. I usually get the drunken noodles with chicken and my girlfriend gets the red Thai curry with chicken. Both are fantastic! Haven’t eaten in a lot since we usually get it to go. They have a great lunch special for $15 that included an entree and a small side, I usually get the spring roll.
Our favorite Thai restaurant! Every dish we’ve ever ordered has been delicious, and we’ve been there at least a dozen times. Warm/efficient service too.
Delicious new Thai place!
카레는 어디나 맛있겠지만, 치킨 카레가 멋있었어요.
직원분 너무 친절 하셔서 또 갈거 같아요
친절하고 합리적인 가격에 편안히 식사하고 싶으시다면 가보셔요!! :)
Great Thai food in 2nd ave uptown. The staff are always accommodating and the decoration is wonderful too. You’re almost guaranteed a fun time here.
Love this place! The Shrimps Creamy Tom Yum is my favorite, but I’ve also ordered other items and enjoyed them as well. The staff are always very nice and helpful. Overall a really great spot!
Went there for the first time after walking by it for a year. Absolutely delicious curry at a good price.
Food was so good and the place is so pretty! Super nice especially with some friends. Definitely a new go to. The waiters were also incredibly kind! Super underrated place.
Great food, atmosphere, and nice owners!
If you are looking to being discriminated and/or treated differently for not being white, feel free to visit this place!
You can have a sense of how the Asian servers worship its white affluent clientele more than anything else.
I was asked to leave just for eating my food inside of the restaurant although I ordered take out, keep in mind the place was almost empty and there was plenty seating. Also they made sure this request was very PUBLIC as they didn't even bother to come close to my table, they said it straight from the register, felt like a middle school student for a second.
Lastly, food was TERRIBLE (ordered curry chicken and received ONION CURRY)--which speaks volumes since you can get great Thai food in NYC.
After all this shame and embarrassment I had to leave to restaurant. If you'd feel like avoiding this experience please visit Thai Hot Box located also in Third Avenue in the UES... food is amazing and they treat you like a long-time customer even in your first Visit.
Love the atmosphere and the food here. One of my favorite thai places in the neighborhood. I definitely be the regular.
Great place if you need a Thai fix. The dishes are not quite authentic, but close enough. Huge potions though so be prepared to take some home.
Delicious Thai food!!
Had take out and the flavor profiles were above average compared to many Thai restaurant
Overall thoughts: the space is small, but very cozy. The food was very delicious, and I would recommend this place for anyone who is craving some Thai take out. One criticism I have is that I did wish that the portions were slightly bigger, so when coming here I would recommend ordering an entree plus an appetizer if you want to leave feeling full.
Specifics of my experience below:
From how the shop is decorated, it looks more like a cute cafe than a place serving up some seriously delicious Thai food. When you walk in, you are greeted by the neon light on the right side of the wall, lighting up the entire place with a wash of bright pink. Nothing super fancy, and nothing uninviting either.
I ordered a Thai Iced tea, and it was delicious. Tasted like any other Thai Iced Tea, super sweet, and perfect for my cravings. I did try to ask for 50% sugar, but they said the tea was already brewed, so they can't alter the sugar amount.
As for my appetizer, I had a Chicken Satay. It took about ~20 minutes for the appetizer to come out, which is a little bit on the long side, but I think the fact that it came out hot (temperature-wise) made up for it. No cold food here! The satay wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The chicken was juicy and tender, the meat fell right off the skewers when biting into it. We had two sauces for dipping which was a nice surprise, because usually you only get the peanut sauce. We had the classic peanut sauce, as well as a more vinegar-y sweet sauce as well, which was also delicious. I took turns dipping into the rich peanut sauce and the tart vinegar sauce, both of which helped balance the dish.
As for my entree, I ordered their Pad Ke Mow, with Chicken as my choice of protein. This was so delicious, and so spicy. I took turns biting my delicious food as well as drinking from my iced tea and water. It was burning my tongue, but I couldn't stop myself from eating more. I think spice-enthusiasts will understand the feeling. I didn't try to ask for less spice (because I love spicy food), but you could try to ask if super spicy food isn't your thing. I think the most delicious part of this dish was the EGGS. They were scrambled and coated with a sweet and spicy soy sauce, and it was delicious. The only complaint I have is that I wish that they gave me a bit more protein in this dish, it felt like I only had a total of 3 to 4 chicken pieces on the entire plate.
We also ordered the Green Curry Pork, which was also delicious. Since my partner ordered the dish and not me, I only took a few bites, so I will describe as best I could what I tasted. The curry broth was what you would expect from a Thai curry. It was sweet, sour, acidic, coconut-ty, and VERY spicy. I felt like this was spicier than my Pad Ke Mow, but that could also be because I was already a few bites in of my food, and my tongue was already on fire when I tried the curry. The pork in this dish was WAY better than the chicken in the Pad Ke Mow. It was tender and flavorful, and the fattiness of the pork complimented the acidic flavors of the curry very well. I have no complaints about this dish, only compliments.
As I said in the beginning, I think this place would be amazing for take out or delivery. Sitting down was nice because the food arrived warm, but the ambience wasn't anything extraordinary. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who loves Thai food, or wants to try it for the first time, but I would definitely recommend asking them to hold back a little on the heat if you're a spicy food beginner!
Really good green curry and fast delivery. I can't wait to try more.
Have ordered several dishes from Bangrak now. All have been delicious and above average for local Thai spot
Pad Kee Mao, Green Curry, and Tom Yum soup = 5 stars
Great vegetarian options
I’ve had a lot of beef pad Thai in my life, like a lot and this one was special amazing. Can’t wait to go back and order again☺️☺️
Nice ambience, good food and quick service. What else would one want from a restaurant. Will visit again.
My goodness!! What a lovely little restaurant. The ambiance and decor were absolutely remarkable. They treat their customers well. The food was the best part. I’m always scared to try eating at new restaurants, but there food is A+. I had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and the Bangrak pink milk drink. Definitely have to come back and try more dishes.
Used to be my favorite spot. Ordered some Pad Thai and Curry Puffs. Puffs we’re great, but the Pad Thai was very bland and congealed into clumps. I see other reviews really liked this spot, and I hope this was just a one-off mistake!
New Thai Spot in the UES!! I love Thai food so much and so happy to see and try a new spot in the neighborhood! Bangrak is sooo cute - how can you pass up a bright pink restaurant?!
I got to try a handful of dishes and was so happily satisfied! All the dishes I tried were delicious: Panang curry with chicken, Shrimps Creamy Tom Yum, and Pad Kee Mao with Pork. I don't usually order the soup but asked what I should get and this was recommended, I was soooo impressed when I tried it as the flavor was so good and I will definitely get this soup again! Also the Thai iced tea hit the spot!! I'll for sure be back here!
Ps this place is BYOB as there is no alcohol served but open to bring your own!
Fresh and delicious. Flavors are perfectly balanced. The papaya salad had proper spice in it! It was so good and refreshing.
Dear Bangrak, please never tone down your spice. I've been desperate for chiles. People can get bland Thai food in plenty of other locations. Keep it spicy. Keep it flavorful. 💖
I had the chicken pad Thai from this place and it was delicious! There was a good balance with the noodles, meat, and vegetables. Would order again!
Authentic Thai food. Recommend Thai ice tea and Pad woo sen goong (vermicelli and shrimp) so light, delicious, and good for weight watchers. Will go back again when around UES
This place used to be another Thai restaurant but they changed owners just on the 12th of this month. Since the new owners took over, the food became much more authentic! They did change the menu a bit but as a Thai, they added a few items that I love (eg Krapow Moo Grob - Crispy pork in basil sauce).
I come here three times a week.
