Authentic Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine
I chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner and it was perfect for the occasion on a Friday night. Someone in our party had a severe gluten allergy and the lovely lady in charge (assuming she's the owner) took the food allergy very seriously and I am happy to report no one got sick following dinner and they kept their word on ensuring no food touched gluten. The pho is delicious (as were all the dishes we ordered) the service was also great. I had a wonderful birthday dinner here - thank you, Mekong!
Lovely little restaurant. The elder owner or manager was extremely nice, welcoming and just so lovely. The portions were smaller than average, but the price is also lower than average—in my opinion, it was the right combo of size and price as I could order more variety and enjoy them all in the restaurant without being stuffed.
I basically live a block away from this place yet I’ve never gone in. But this time I did and it was lovely! A sweet old man was my waiter and he was very patient with us. It’s a mix of Thai and Vietnamese food, so there were plenty of options. Decorations made me feel like I was back home due to the wooden shutters haha. It’s a good stop for lunch. Quick and no frills.
A charming little restaurant serves both Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. The staff is super sweet and friendly. We were impressed by the presentation of their main dishes, but the portions were a bit small. It appears that they have customized their food to accommodate local tastes, with a lighter flavor profile.
I should not be writing a review of a place like this on an empty stomach, as simply the act of remembering the sumptuous, lusciously creamy food I had here is enough to make me long to return. Admittedly there was a rather strange guy seated next to us while we were eating, but that does not reflect ill on the restaurant as much as it deserves as a reflection of the many different unusual and unexpected kinds of people that you see here in New York City. The food here arrives on time, it's reasonably priced, and above all, it is mouth-wateringly tender, with every dish prepared in such a way that brings out the specific strengths of that dish. Case in point: my duck tamarind, which carried the smoky flavor and crispy texture that I love about duck, while escaping the tepid chewiness and general dryness that unfortunately play too many iterations of duck dishes. The dark, tougher flavor that I like about duck was not ignored, but rather brought out to its fullest extent through these skilled preparations made here at this lovely Thai restaurant. I will certainly be coming back here in the future.
This Thai+Vietnamese fusion restaurant itself is so clean and charming, the service is amazing, and the food was just delicious! I ordered the papaya salad which is always a must in the summer time & the lemongrass beef over rice✨ The refreshing and savory flavors of each dish brought me back to life in the summer’s humidity and heat. I also topped it off with mango sticky rice 🥭🍚🧡✨
The food here is SO GOOD. The beef pho and soft shell crab curry are my favorite. I would love to try something with duck next.
Also, the owner is the sweetest guy ever. He always greets with a heartwarming smile. I'm definitely a returning customer. Such a cute family-run business.
good atmosphere food was okay

I am Vietnamese and very picky about good Vietnamese food. Mekong is a good Vietnamese place with great prices. Food is excellent! Great find!
Enjoyed the pho broth immensely
Fantastic food and friendly staff
was ok. expensive for a simple plate of noodles and some veggies and pork.
I love pineapple fried rest, and while their's is good, it wasn't the best I had.
Ordered delivery, the pad Thai and basil fried rice had no flavor. Tofu Pad Thai had a piece of chicken in it so I wouldn’t recommend for vegetarians. Very disappointing when Opai Thai (farther from me) is cheaper and much better quality overall. Otherwise the order got to me quickly.
Great food, reasonable prices, and wonderful service!
Very rude owner.
Inexpensive and delicious food. Very recommended for a dinner with friends.
Nice flavors
absolutely delicious food! everything we ordered was so fresh and made with care - the banh mi was definitely one of the best i’ve ever had! highly recommend if you want a quick, cozy lunch before heading to central park ☺️
Lovely place with reasonably priced, delicious food. Very kind and attentive waitstaff.
Neighborhood local gem. Good food and attentive service.
Gutes Essen, faire Preise
Delicious, unfussy Thai and Vietnamese dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed summer rolls, a red curry, and a large mango juice for $30 (before tip).
Best Thai I've had in NYC
Really great food and nice pleasant cozy place. The elderly person served the food. Serviced with a smile and you can feel the genuineness.
Very good chicken Pho and Shrimp dumings!

We stopped by to grab drinks while doing laundry and because I love Vietnamese Cold Coffee. The Green Tea Ice Cream with the fried bananas was such a wonderful refreshing treat and their Clear Chicken Soup was light and flavorful. We very much look forward to going there for a dinner date.
Update: We have since gone very regularly and the staff is always super nice to us. We love this place!
Nice interiors
Fresh and tasty food
Owner is very friendly
Mekong is a quaint little spot with few seats and a full bar. I frequent it when I'm in the area and get their Phở tái every time! The soup is delicate and flavorful. The beef is tender yet has a wonderful chew to every bite.
I tend to go around lunch and have never seen more than 2 tables seated. The drinks are a bit pricy but STRONG, so I'd say that offsets the price. It's definitely a place where you can slip away and have a quiet meal in busy Columbus Ave.
Delicious food, good service, and reasonable prices...Also, they have softshell crabs...One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants...
I LOVE pho, but I couldn't eat that. The first bowl was so salty that it was inedible, and the second bowl tasted like cheap beef bullion and noodles. I gave up, and they still charged me for it.
Merci encore
The pho was amazing. Very flavorful and not greasy like others. It made full and not sluggish even after adding extra noodles.
Best Vietnamese food in the area, highly recommend the Ban Mhi (listed under apps but definitely makes for a perfect lunch).
The food here was really delicious and reasonably priced. REALLY DELICIOUS FOOD! The portion size was perfect for us, but if you're a light eater, you might have leftovers.
The decor and atmosphere inside were also quite nice, as was the natural lighting from being on the corner with plenty of windows.
The host/server was very accommodating as well. My one gripe is that some of the tables are too close to the bar, which prevents you from leaning back in your chair.
Great little restaurant run by the family. Best Tom Kha that I've tried!
Nice and cozy restaurant. Great food and very nice people.
Very delicious and the owner is super friendly
We found this place on a whim and are so glad we came in! It was such quick service with great food and presentation. Compared to other places we’ve been in New York, this place had truly authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Would HIGHLY recommend the pho and the bun vermicelli with grilled lemongrass chicken. The Vietnamese couple running the place are so sweet and I can’t wait to come back!
Note: skip all the way to the back of the menu where the viet food is - that’s the good stuff
The best pad woon sen! Absolutely love it, the food is delicious!
This little restaurant is the best not only for the delicious food but also for the quality of service and the kindness of the owner manager! I recommend this place at 100% for the low price and the good food quality!
Loved the green curry!!!

Quick service good food
My wife got food poisoning from here two nights ago so yeah… be careful
The server was very kind and everyone loved their food. Thank you!!

Great food and friendly service!
Horrible delivery experience with this restaurant. Apparently were unable to complete my order and instead of canceling the order in UberEats, decided to let the order run, wasting my and several Uber drivers time. The order was only canceled once I personally contacted Uber and they canceled the order. Horrible communication from this restaurant so I won't be a customer.

Délicieux pho, je recommande
Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Had the Pho Bo Vien and Jasmine tea. Love the food, fresh sides, and service was fast. Definitely recommend.
Good food, solid prices, really nice staff!
Great food and drinks...Delicious Thai and Vietnamese food, friendly service, plus great mojitos...What more could one ask for?🙂
Great!!!
Curry needs work

Super delicious & flavorful food! Curry Puffs are insanely crushable, I could eat like 15 in a sitting 😂 the Drunken Noodles were so tasty, so tangy & spicy and the little bites of Basil added a fun herby note. Mango sticky rice for dessert was delightful as well! Service was also a highlight, we had the sweetest man taking care of us - food comes out quick too! Definitely coming back to try more of their extensive menu
Delicious food. Great service. Will be back on the regular. Thanks Mekong!
So glad to discover this gem in the area! We ordered for pick up, and the food that we've tried so far are delicious. My picky 5yo especially loved the banh xeo (Vietnamese crispy pancake). Prices are really reasonable, and the staff is very friendly. We will definitely be a frequent customer!
Ordered delivery. Beef cubes weresuper hard and chewy, strange flavor. Wings were soggy and super salty. Tom yum soup tasted weird. Even the pad Thai was bad.
I’m not exaggerating when I say: this is my favourite restaurant in New York. Their banh mi sandwiches and pho are the best I’ve ever had. The crispy Vietnamese spring rolls and the curry puffs are excellent, and the bánh hoi noodles are awesome. The owners are super nice and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. (The photo is only 1/3 of the banh mi sandwich, forgot to take a picture before eating!)
Cute spot, wonderful people.
Highly recommend the matcha ice cream and the curry puffs!
Foods are really nice ! And thr boss is really kind
Have had multiple dishes from here over multiple years. It's all good with a fun low key atmosphere.
Mekong is a very good small Vietnamese restaurant , we had the best Bo Bun nem , beef or chicken on the UpperWest Side . Go there , you won’t be disappointed and the owners are pleasant!
Great service great decorations great food
Really lovely mom and pop thai plus vietnam place. The pho tasted really nice.
Their pho tai is pretty good and the portions are huge! Amazing service. I also tried their cafe sua da and it was super strong and delicious! Highly recommend.
Very friendly and good quality meals. The place needs more natural light it's too gloomy. They have the windows all covered up and dark wood inside. but the service what so friendly that still gets 5 stars.
I don’t usually post review about take out, understanding that the quality of the food is a bit compromised. But well, this one just egregious. First the fried rice is “wet” it’s mainly because they over cooked the rice, so it has this weird consistency and the rice is way too soft. Second, The crispy pork is not exactly crispy, the veggies are cut way too big in comparison to how tiny the “crispy pork” are. And third, the mango sticky rice, sticky rice was super hard and difficult to cut and chew, the coconut sauce is way too liquid, def could be reduced a lot more. Anyway, one word: disappointing.
Their food is so yummy yummy in my tummy lol... I'm always down for the pineapple fried rice!!
The nicest people run this shop, always a please to order from.
Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu from pad Thai to fried rice or my favorite their sweet and sour tofu. Great price point for quality and quantity of food you get.
Make sure you get a Vietnamese iced coffee!
Jungle Green Curry is so good and their rots bread is so yummy. I like their jungle curry but remember it being just a bit better a few years ago it is good just a bit different.
This is my go-to Thai place! We order here at least a few times of month and love it every time. The orders are always timely and tasty. My favorite meal is their tofu pad thai because I love how they cook the tofu so crispy and perfect. I’ve had several different items from their menu, however, and all of them have been incredible.
Ordered from there first time. Admit that I was looking to order from Saiguette. Nevertheless good is delicious and fresh. Highly recommend!
Delicious, can’t get enough of their pho
I really liked it surprisingly! I was planning on going to Saiguette but they’re closed right now so I walked up the block and found Mekong! I got pad se-ew with shrimp and the blend of soy sauce and everything else was really well done. Very flavorful. I’ll be coming back :)
Muy buena atención y servicio
Great thai food! Comfortable small place to enjoy great food with great people.
Great service, great food! Very accommodating of dietary restrictions and children. Went back the next and the day after because i couldn't get enough!
Food was okay, and ambiance was warm and cozy until after they abruptly switched the heat off and presented us with a bill “because their systems shut down automatically” thus clearly signaling they don’t want people to linger. The automation did not include coordinating to bring the meals out together. I had that happen to us frequently in Asia but never in a restaurant in the USA. I wonder if they strive to be a cross between a restaurant and a corner self-service bistro. Oh, wait, one block down there’s a true bistro with similar cuisine and fair pricing
5 stars! The inside is very modern and clean with perfect accents of Vietnamese culture!
Pho- Excellent. Very tasty broth.
Vegetable spring rolls with plum sauce- Excellent!
The customer service was wonderful and my food came out quickly!
Omg, the food is soooooo delicious!
Staff are very friendly and attentive as well, highly recommended!
Attentive staff with excellent dishes! Best Thai yellow curry ever! Highly recommend.
Wow what a terrible service by both waiters!!! We both got food poising as well .... words cannot explain how rude and unprofessional the service was !!! If you want to save your health and money please go somewhere else.
Service was great and the food was delicious
Very tasty and good prices
Quick Business lunch. Nice quality good food. Good size menu and not expensive. Service quick and pleasant. Decoration/furniture reaching the end of its sell by date but, adequate.
I was expecting it to come with carrots, peanuts, and chilli. The lemon looked old.
Yummy green curry. Good burn.
Our go-to place for take out. Love the Vietnamese spring rolls.
Order from this place all the time and finally went in person. Food has always been tasty
Love this place. Never too crowded, delicious food, excellent service. I recommend the pad kee mao if you like spicy food!
Delicious food and very fair prices, I had a super nice time with my friend here! (And the decoration of the place is very nice)
Buen servicios esta limpió
Authentic food.
Food teste exactly as in Thailand and Vietnam
Delicious Southeast Asian food, excelent service, and cozy atmosphere. Prices are quite reasonable for NY.
