Thai standards, veggie meals & a take-out option served in a relaxed, compact destination.
I was recommended the beef noodle soup and that was very tasty, as well as my friend's pad kra pow. I would say that the drunken noodle did lack a bit of flavor, though. The service was very helpful and attentive, and I loved the vinyl theme they had going on. It felt like a Thai record store on the inside!
Restaurant was small but it wasn’t overly busy when we came at 1:30pm on a Tuesday. The staff was very nice and seated me immediately as I waited for the other person. They had old records on the wall. The food look good and tasted just as good. Service was quick. Would definitely come back and try more. They also allow me to have the dessert sticky rice without the mango and they discounted the price. Yeh
I love the food that I ordered. The crispy belly is freshly cooked. And the rice is steamed to perfection. The dumpling is so-so. The staff is really nice and attentive. Very nice ambience, lighting and interior. Best of all, the place is spotless and it wont leave food odor in your clothes. Will definitely come back. Thank you.
Recently found out about this spot two months ago and I think I’ve ate here about 6 times since then because it’s just so good for its price point. Great music that ranges from Weezer to Bob Marley, fun decor and sweet attentive staff. This spot definitely warrants a visit.

Got the green curry and it was HOT. But was rich in green (idk what even green curry is made of but it gave deep green flavor). Rice was good, and so was spring rolls.
Wow: 0.5/1
It is what it is advertised, Thai, hot, and a Box.

Tastes better than in Thailand! Excellent service! Waitering lady was super nice and beautiful. With constant attention to tables and customers. I had Tom Yum soup, Curry Chicken and salad. Everything was beatifully presented and very tasty. I'll definitely come back! Thank you!
Take out was well packed and delicious!!

great value for $
We had a great lunch at Thai Hot Box - all the food was very freshly made and delicious, service was very friendly despite our toddler creating some noise and mess, and the food was well-priced as well. The lychee juice was great as were the shrimp cake and vegetable spring roll appetizers. The Pad Woonsen and pad thai were both excellent and generously portioned. Also the menu and staff were very helpful and able to accommodate reasonable dietary restrictions- I look forward to coming back again soon!

I don’t think the customer service here caters well towards people interested in Thai cuisine, I rather go somewhere else, honestly.
Love this place. Highly recommend.

Everything we had was super yummy
While the food was good the service was awful. Half of our party waited a lot longer for food while the others already finished eating. We waited 30 min to pay after receiving the bill. One of us was gonna pay tips in cash and the workers didn’t want to accept this so they cancelled the transaction and tried to force them to tip by card. After this the other half of the party received the receipt with a 20% tip included (without letting us know beforehand or us agreeing on that) they were unfriendly to one person too just because she was taking in French.
Nice and clean place! Friendly staff! Good food!
Tres bien
Tamrim duck was delicious. Green curry was awesome. This competes with UpThai. A must go to place, do not fear the delicious taste.

This is such a cute place. Food is very good for the price. I wanted to review because they went above and beyond with service. I brought my grandmother who uses a wheelchair. They rushed to the door and were very attentive the whole meal, made sure to not include anything with sesame oil as we are allergic. I would definitely return!
Tasty food, very nice staff, clean facilities. Thank you!
I was in the mood for cozy/comfort food and got the tofu drunken noodles. 10/10, will be getting again and recommending it to every one I know. The staff was amazingly kind and speedy.
Food is great, just wish there was more seating inside
Tastes better than in Thailand! Excellent service! Waitering lady was super nice and beautiful. With constant attention to tables and customers. I had Tom Yum soup, Curry Chicken and salad. Everything was beatifully presented and very tasty. I'll definitely come back! Thank you!
Person I picked up from yesterday was different, said my order couldnt be switched from to go, to stay. I asked if I could sit by wall seating so not to take up space. She said no
Food here is amazing ! Great service ! One of the best on the upper east side
A nice quaint, small restaurant very nice staff, everyone very attentive to customer needs. The food was very quick and tasty
I got the Prig Khing for the first time ever and it was delicious! It had to spicy peppers and the description, which is the most that any item had, but it wasn’t terribly spicy. The vegetables that came in the dish had a nice crunch, and the beef was nicely cooked. No complaints. Would definitely get this again here but would also want to try new things out as well.
Great Thai food place - curries and apps were great and the Thai iced tea teased traditional. Would definitely recommend.
Food is great, honest speaking prices are pretty good, but the customer service has been declining. My partner and I come here consistently. We picked up an order today, and did not receive utensils, another day we were called out for not leaving a tip, although we leave one most times that we dine in. Overall, I love the meals, but it is a shame that the customer service has been decline for us
Food is good but the customer service is so bad. I have been coming to this place for 3 years because the food is good but I'm disappointed with the customer service, even for to go orders. How is it that one orders a meal to go and gets no utensils? It doesn't make sense.
Some of the only good Thai food I can find in this part of UES. Consistently delicious and always quick, the staff is also super friendly. Highly recommend!
This place was so good. Very spicy tho. The flavors were amazing. The lady in the front was very nice and helpful and informative. Loved this place and will definitely be coming again if in the area.

Price was $95 for 3 entrees, 2 appetizers, 1 drink + tip
Nous avons pris 4 plats différents et tous étaient excellents !
Authentic Thai experience!
People Incharge at every cool
It takes about 10 minutes to order and get your food. Then the food is DELICIOUS. It’s not even very expensive.
great food, not too expensive, and great vibe and atmosphere
Great place to have Thai food. The place is a little small but the food and the staff are amazing. We had the Drunken Noodles and the Massaman Curry, both of which were incredible. I really recommend this place.
I used to order here multiple times to pick up food that i eat. It was always good but a bit salty. Today i called, the person who answered was very irate like shouting at me. I was asking for help to customize my food. And she seems very irritated about it. I got my food, and guess what it was very salty. Like its not edible anymore! My tongue still has the salty taste till now!
Best Thai place on UES. Drunken Noodles were excellent- super wide noodles, perfect texture (good wok skills) beautiful presentation, came with like 6 huge shrimp. Large portion, maybe could even be shared for 2. Spicy but just enough. Thai tea and crab Rangoon were also exceptional. Don’t skip out on mango sticky rice either. Fair prices. Friendly service. Good music. Fun decor. Small intimate interior.
Great food
Big servings and delicious!!
Muy bueno todo y el servicio increíble, volvería!
Better than all the Thai spots on the UES
Lovely atmosphere, very quick and polite service and delicious and authentic Thai food. Best Tom Yam soup I tried in US, great choice of dishes as well. Duck noodle soup is really flavorful and looks just as impressive. Definitely will be coming back to try some other dishes.
Amazing food. My favorite is their drunken noodles and pad sea ew. Both are very flavorful and well seasoned. Must try!
Ordered for pick up today - was super quick and tasty! Person at the front was so friendly and helped me pick out my dishes. The drunken noodles with pork belly is AMAZING
Most underrated spot in the UES
The food is good and the staff is friendly and helpful. I enjoy eating here. My issue has to do with the portion sizes. The size of the plates are borderline ridiculous for the cost.
Neighborhood staple and does a great job of being true and authentic to its roots.
Easy Top 5 Thai spots in the city.
i order from here thrice a week
Overall Thoughts: This is a chill, aesthetic restaurant serving up delicious Thai dishes— especially tasty mock duck. Both the restaurant itself and the food presentation were very aesthetic, with a lot of thought put into both. The service is quick and friendly, and the prices are good too— especially compared to other Thai spots in the area.
Food I tried:
- Garlic sauce sauté with mock duck (5/5): This was my favorite dish from here. The mock duck was super tasty, with a delicious meat-like texture and strong garlicky soy sauce flavor. You can really taste the garlic in the sauce, and it was really good.
- Bamee yok nah petd (3.8/5): I didn’t love this one as the noodles made up the majority of the dish yet they were kind of bland and overpowering. The duck was crispy and flavorful though. Because there wasn’t much else in this dish besides the noodles and duck, it was kind of a monotonous dish overall.
- Pad woon sen with mock duck (4.3/5): This was pretty good— again the mock duck was amazing and the glass noodles were flavorful and well-sautéed.

Deliciousness abounds! Went based on the great reviews and was super impressed. #48 duck dish was amazing. Added some deep fried ice cream which was also great. Super friendly staff, great service. As Arnold says...I'll be back.. thank you!
This spot is a hidden gem worth going out of your way to explore! The food is delightful, and the staff so warm and welcoming. Such a lovely find!
Thai Hot Box serves delicious food at reasonable prices. While they do offer lunch specials, I opted for the crispy tofu appetizer and the crispy pork belly and sausage over rice, both of which were excellent. The space is long and narrow but colorful and charming. It definitely warrants a return visit.
Food was amazing.
We ordered the curry puffs, Tom kha (which was delicious, packed with flavour and spice, and would recommend ordering) to start as appetizers. The drunken noodles (pad mee kao) was had good balanced flavour, sweet, savory and spicy! Also big portions, had to take away the noodles that I couldn’t finish!
Oh my god.
The service was top notch!
The food was flavorful and esthetically pleasing. The price was very reasonable.
Staff very attentative small place for a quick bite. I like Thai Food will eat here again.
Food was definitely high quality, especially for the price.
Curry puffs (4 small ones in a serving for $8) were not bread heavy and were nice and crispy and flaky on the outside. Seasoning was well done and came with dipping sauce.
Pad See Ew with roasted duck ($18) was well seasoned, on the saltier side, but still very good. Duck skin crispy and meat was on the drier side but not enough to call dry.
Amazingly fast despite at least 5 pick up orders coming through. They were very easy to get the attention of (though that may have to do with it being a small space). Kindly took and boxed my leftovers.
Loved the servers kindness. There was a mother and her two kids there, and they dropped a few belongings a couple times, and the servers were quick to notice and pick things up for them.
soooo good!highly recommend pad see ew and wings zaab!especially the wings zaab!magic power on it!
Poor service and below average food. It is high time they should have more rice main dishes and customize the egg they provide, instead of providing them half boil. Very disappointing
The best Thai basil fried rice I’ve had! Lots of green pepper, onion and chicken with pieces of fried basil throughout. So nice and spicy, highly recommend!
My wife and I had been been to a museum and were looking for a substantial lunch as we were quite hungry. There were lot of eateries but we were glad we choose this place. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The food when it arrived was ample and delicious. It certainly hit the spot. Would be happy to revisit when I am in that area again.
First time eating here. The food was okay.
Très bonne cuisine thaïlandaise, authentique. Accueil chaleureux et sympathique. Trop bien
Good food and service.
Rude staff! women that don't have empathy for mothers, they ruined our lunch
Excellent , Authentic Thai food.!
Love duck noodle
Best drunken noodles in the city!
Best Thai food ever! There’s curry puffs are to die for and the pad Thai seasoning is perfectly on point!
Very solid chicken pad Thai.
There are so many tasty things on the menu! I went with a small group of friends where we shared everyone’s dishes.
Particular standouts include the curry puff appetisers, the crispy belly pork and massive king prawn noodles! The green curry and pad Thai are great, too.
It’s only a small place and when we popped in it soon filled up. Prices were decent and portion sizes generous. Don’t hesitate to try it out!
Great food, and especially great wings but didn’t give very much beef with the Thai basil lunch special. Also the music was slightly to loud for how small the place is. But overall great little Thai restaurant.
A new favorite, great food and good portions, friendly and fast service.
Really good portions. Not as much flavor as other places, and my green curry was not very green. Though, that could be how this place's style or the style of the chef who was working that night. Not a bad restaurant. I'll be back.
Amazing place, food, music and service. Will come back for sure!
Returning customer, best Thai in the city I’ve had. The pad sea ew is quality
I love this place so much, it’s so cozy & great food. In love with their dunken noodles 🍝 everything tastes fresh and delicious!! My fave go-to place during lunch 🫶🏾
Fresh, affordable and such a friendly place to eat!! Great for solo and doubles, consistently delicious.
The vegetarian food was beyond terrible. Ordered a dish with vegetables- the only vegetable that came was (literally) a bunch of semi steamed broccoli with no flavorings. Far and away the worst restaurant in months, felt absolutely robbed.
I’ve ordered delivery and dined in. Both experiences are great! The restaurant is small and has seating for about 15 or so total. I really enjoyed the green curry with tofu. Other dishes we’ve tried are drunken noodles (too salty), tofu with bean sprouts, eggplant Basil sauté, and prig khing.
Best chicken Pad See Ew I've had in a long time!!!
Amazing place with delicious, highest quality dishes and very friendly staff.
Sauteed chicken & cashews delicious
Inexpensive Thai food with a solid composition of flavor, serving, and price. $14 a dish. 4/5 stars as a lunch spot.
Ehh
You have to wait on a line to pay first for your food and drinks and then find a table to sit down..and if you want another drink you have to wait on the line again...
This is one of my must make stops while I'm on the UES.
I'm addicted to the BBQ Pork Hot Box.
Thai Hot Box is a hidden gem in Manhattan that serves up some of the best Thai food I've ever had. The restaurant has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. But what truly sets Thai Hot Box apart is their Tom Kha dish. It was a masterpiece of flavors - the rich and creamy coconut broth, paired with tender chicken and the perfect amount of spice, was simply unforgettable. Every spoonful was a delightful explosion of taste and left me wanting more. I highly recommend the Tom Kha to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Thai experience in Manhattan. Overall, Thai Hot Box is a must-visit for anyone who loves Thai cuisine and is looking for an exceptional dining experience.
Decent menu and customer service. Prices and portion are good. None of the proteins are marinated so it’s a tad bland. Ordered a item for $12 she then says it’s $14 then returns to say they don’t have it. Adjust the menu so it doesn’t appear like you’re adjusting the price subjectively. Small quaint spot but clean and overall ok experience; could possibly return.
Loved it and the service was great!
This small store has the best drunken noodle and Tom Kha soup. Golden noodles are my favorite appetizer too.
The restaurant is small but the food was great!
Food was delicious, though Tom Tom soup could be spicier.
Ordered from their website. Food was ready by the time I walked over there. Beef stew is a must.
Khao soi was bomb.
Had Tom Kha soup and drunken noodle, both were great. Fried tofu was also very tasty. Very cute place and service.
Food is amazing, but the server’s attitude is THE WORST I have ever had. It took her 10 mins to let me sit down when there’s a empty table. Too her 22 minutes to give me a cup of water, 28 mins to let me order. 30+ minutes for the food to arrive. She walked past me to take people who just came in to order take out while I am sitting here starving, waiting to order. I thought they are busy - that’s fine, I understand. But then I waved at her before desert arrived and the chef saw me and told her. She said she sees it but she walked past me 3 times without stopping for me. I really hate to say this : the food is of the quality of a fancy Thai restaurant that charges 50 dollars per person, but the attitude is just …. Hard to bear. Is it because I am an Asian female that looks weak that doesn’t deserve respect? The 3 stars are purely for food.
I got the pad woon sen and it was so good, might be the best meal I ate during my whole trip in nyc
The pork in my dish was cooked well but sadly the entire dish tasted like soy sauce.
Had to be in the area for something else after dinner so looked up this place. Surprised pleasantly for the upper east side! Small, no frills place with quality close to the Thai food you find in Queens, focus on food, not so much drinks. Clearly a popular place, was very busy We were there at 7pm and got bar seating as all the tables were busy. We had the pork larb & chicken drunken noodles - both were excellent.
very delicious food! highly recommended 👍🏻
Food was surprisingly amazing, I'm glad I made the stop
I was so hungry and needed a quick take out meal. Saw the Thai Box with some customers and figured it was good. Ordered Pad Thai Chicken. Came out quick. Once I got it home and transferred to my plate it was like a brick of dried noodles. Very hot and lacking any type of Pad Thai flavor. The chicken looked good but was dry and over cooked. Despite being so hungry I wouldn't waste the calories on this dinner. Will not return
